Lessons at Refugio Frey




Yes, she is having a lesson at the moment! Sue, from Canada, learned how to say "gorro" (hat) but we are still working on "fijaciones" (bindings). We had lessons, great weather, pwder on South faces... "dos dias increibles en Frey!" (two amazing days at Frey)

Jon and Silping, from Canada, celebrated their 10th anniversary skiing with us and talking Spanish. Perfect sun and powder day in the back-country near Bariloche.

Lagunita


PERFECT SKI DAY! We skinned up at Lagunita, a good bowl just on the edge of the ski resort at Catedral. The weather was great and the view from the ridge AMAZING! Erin and Sarah, both students at Spanish in the mountains and friends, with Mt Tronador at the back.

Avalanche awareness course


In light of the recent avalanches that have ocurred in the area the last few weeks, we are holding an avalanche awareness and snow safety class.
The course is taught by Fernando Armani and Bicho Fioirenza, both local mountain guide instructors in Bariloche. The course consists of 4 Friday classes, from 7 to 10pm and covers snowpack assessment, route selection, mountain weather, etc. It is taught in Español.

Aves y clases de español

Caren came to Patagonia to be part of a Conference on "Ornitologia". She had Spanish lessons by the lake, on the top of Cerro Campanario and at Mallin del doce, where he could observe many birds with her teacher, Mariana. We have heard that her presentation (in Spanish) in San Martin after the course was a success!

Empanadas




Anna, Pieter and Erin made empanadas during their Spanish class. Moni, the teacher, welcomed them at home and introduced some cooking among the activities. They had fun and a great local meal!

Swimming and climbing



Jamie and Jeremy form Alaska swam in Morenito Lake before hiking up to Frey. They had a perfect weaher week and climbed the classical routes at Catedral

Summer 2008




We had a great Summer in Patagonia, nice warm days. In January we climbed Volcan Puyehue (Chile) on horses and then relaxed on the beach on the Pacific Ocean. Thank you Oliver, Isabelle, Julie and Eric for the good times!
